Biography…
Richard Tweney studied classical violin with Joyce Gundy and composition with Dr. Roman Toi, at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He subsequently did his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, winning the graduating scholarship in his class.
More recently, he pursued a course in fiddle playing with Anne Lederman at the World Music Centre in Toronto. He has been living in Northumberland County since 1988.
He currently plays viola with Counterpoint Community Orchestra in Toronto, and operates his own private studio in Cobourg. Richard is a member of the American String Teachers Association, as well as the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. He also maintains a home page on
